Bio
BLUSSH, Brisbane’s unholy trinity plastering a 90’s grunge, punk ferocity with the tongue & cheek that’ll pull you in and spit you out. Conceived swiping right like any modern day romance, nothing had their hearts beating harder than the shared love of musical influences HOLE, L7, Babes In Toyland & The Distillers. Setting out to revive this lost sound, BLUSSH have garnered a reputation as a live band not for the faint of heart; raw, reckless and wildly unhinged. The DIY ethos of the band launched them into a relentless crusade of live gigs in 2019, a debut E.P “SHUT UP BECKY,” video release “Mental Health” and a national tour. The bands efforts failed to go unrecognised, landing top 30 in 4ZZZ 2019 countdown and gaining industry praise from punk-pioneer Vivian Goldman at her BIGSOUND Keynote, marking BLUSSH “critical to the local punk movement.”
Carving out the first year playing alongside comrades Dicklord, Press Club,The Dead Love, The Meanies, WHALEHOUSE, Garlic Nun, KOKO UZI, Being Jane Lane, Flangipanis and Wax Chattels along festival slots Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, Gr!fest and Sonic Masala, BLUSSH hit the ground running and won’t be stopped. Playing “pretty” isn’t their angle but working tirelessly and fiercely to firmly plant both feet and middle fingers on the scene has BLUSSH ready to assault 2020 with even more force. Upcoming single release “BETTER THAN THIS” is an explicit testament that they refuse to slow down, not even a global pandemic can stop them.
